How to use the Date Difference Calculator
- 1
Enter a start date and an end date. The span appears straight away as years, months and days, with totals in days, weeks, months, hours, minutes and seconds.
- 2
Turn on Include end date when both days count, as for a holiday booking or a leave request. Turn on Use times to measure from one time of day to another.
- 3
Read the business days (Monday to Friday) and weekend days. Open Holidays to skip and paste dates, one per line, to remove public holidays from the count.
- 4
Switch to Add or subtract to find the date a number of years, months, weeks, days or business days before or after a start date.
- 5
Press Copy link to share the calculation; the link opens with the same dates.

Counting the days between dates
Project plans, notice periods, warranties, rental agreements and countdowns all come down to the same question: how much time lies between two dates? This calculator gives the answer three ways at once. The headline counts calendar years, months and days, the way a contract describes a period. The totals give the same span as a single number of days, weeks, hours or seconds. The business-day count gives the working days a deadline really allows.
Spans are measured from the start date up to the end date. That matches how spreadsheets and most programming languages subtract dates, and it is the right count for “how long until”. When both the first and the last day are used, as for a hotel stay counted in days or a period of leave, switch on Include end date.
Working days and holidays
Weekends are removed automatically. Public holidays vary by country, region and employer, so the calculator lets you paste your own list rather than guessing. The same list applies in Add or subtract mode, so you can find the date ten business days after an order while skipping Christmas and New Year.
Adding and subtracting time
The Add or subtract mode answers questions such as “what date is 90 days from today” or “what was the date six months before the deadline”. Years and months are added first, clamping to the end of a shorter month, then weeks and days, then business days. The result shows the weekday and how many calendar days it lies from the start.
