Age in years, months and days
Most people know their age in years. Forms, contracts and milestones often need more: the exact age on a particular date, how many days until the next birthday, or whether someone had turned eighteen on the day a document was signed. This calculator answers those questions precisely, and shows its working as totals you can check.
Ages are counted the way people and most official rules count them. A year passes on each birthday, a month passes on the same day of the next month, and the remaining days are counted after that. When a month is shorter than the birth day, for example a birthday on the 31st, the calculator borrows days from the previous month so the result stays consistent.
Leap-day birthdays
Someone born on 29 February has a real birthday only once every four years. Legally they still age every year, and countries differ on which day counts in a common year. The United Kingdom and New Zealand use 1 March for many legal purposes; many people celebrate on 28 February. The setting changes the exact day the age increases and the next-birthday countdown.
